Pinax Developer Profiles: Nuno Khan

This is a post in our Pinax Developer Profiles series, where we highlight awesome people who contribute to Pinax. Read more about it here.

Nuno Khan was born in Mozambique but currently lives in Portugal. During the week he’s a developer, and a musician on weekends. Nuno is interested in music and video production. In his spare time he tries to contribute to open source projects.

Tell us about how your story with code started.

I started coding only in university. Before that I was more into hardware. At university I started out with Java but soon met Python and fell in love. I only started learning Django during my Master’s and today I don’t find myself using anything else.

What do you love about programming?

Building things and actually seeing people using things I helped build.

Why did you start contributing to Pinax and what do you like about Pinax?

I started contributing because at my present company we wanted to use two Pinax apps for a certain project, which still needed some improvements. I had a look at the source code and it seemed simple enough to get started.

Tell us about a cool project you built with Pinax.

I am using a Pinax app for a government project that needs to manage and list candidates before elections in Portugal.

What’s a Pinax app/starter project you would like to build/you think is missing?

Maybe something to make deployment of Django projects easier.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Playing the guitar, watching movies, and gaming.

Do you have any tips for new Pinax contributors?

Dive in and help this community grow because it’s worth it.

Thanks Nuno! :)
